Scorpion control in St. George and Southern Utah

Scorpions are part of desert living, but they do not have to be part of your bathroom. We treat where they hide and travel, and we help you close the gaps.

Scorpions in Southern Utah

Utah has about nine scorpion species, and most live in the southern part of the state. Utah State University Extension notes that scorpions are nocturnal and spend the day hiding under boards, in stacked lumber and firewood piles, in attics, and in debris. They are usually described as accidental visitors that slip in through small openings near windows and doors, and they often turn up in places with water, such as bathrooms and laundry rooms.

Utah wildlife sources say the Arizona bark scorpion is the one species considered potentially harmful to people. Most stings cause pain, numbness or swelling that fades. See our guide to scorpions in St. George for more.

Our approach

Scorpion and spider treatment is included with our pest control service. We treat the places scorpions hide and travel, and we point out changes that make a real difference, like moving firewood away from the wall or sealing a gap by a door. Treatment works best alongside those changes. Read how to keep scorpions out of your house.

If someone is stung. Get medical advice, especially for a child or older adult, or if symptoms are strong or spreading. Poison Control is 1-800-222-1222. Call 911 for severe symptoms.

Why scorpions get more attention here

Scorpion activity is often described locally as highest in late summer, and monsoon season, which runs from early July through mid-September in St. George, is a common time for sightings. New neighborhoods are also being built on former desert, and that brings people and desert wildlife closer together.
